Matt Williams specializes in criminal defense, litigation and court of appeals matters. He has a strong reputation for representing individuals who have been arrested, charged with a crime, or are the subject of a criminal investigation in Ohio.
After graduating cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Matt worked as a Staff Attorney at 11 District Court of Appeals before opening his own practice focusing on criminal defense, the first tenant in the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Solo Practice Incubator.
During law school, Matt worked in the United State’s Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio and the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office. He was also the Executive Submissions Editor for the Global Business Law Review.
In the summer following his first year of law school, Matt studied international law in Russia at the St. Petersburg Summer Law Institute.
During the summer following his second year, Matt had the honor of traveling to the Seychelles, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, to work for a judge of the Supreme Court on two Somali sea-piracy cases. In both cases in the Seychelles, Matt’s work help make significant contributions to the development of this simultaneously ancient and novel area of law.
