Business Litigation Attorney Angela Lavin to Speak on E-Discovery and Data Collection
As litigation becomes increasingly complex, the e-discovery process is more important than ever. Law firms must have a sound strategy for collecting, reviewing, and producing electronic data to prevail in legal disputes. Recent research shows that 79% of cases now involve e-discovery (source: 2021 Logikcull E-Discovery Report), with the average volume of data collected per matter reaching 5.4 terabytes (source: Logikcull 2021 End-of-Year Survey). With stakes this high, firms cannot afford to cut corners during data collection.
ACEDS-Ohio and ProFile Discovery are hosting an attorney event focused on best practices for the data collection phase of e-discovery. The seminar, “Data Odyssey: Navigating the Abyss of Data Collection” will provide insights from industry experts on May 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Hofbrauhaus in Cleveland. At this free event, attorneys will learn strategies to scope reasonable data sources, use technology assisted review, and implement quality control throughout the process.
The speaker lineup includes business litigation attorney and e-discovery veteran Angela Lavin of Wegman Hessler Valore, who will provide perspective on how choices made during collection impact the rest of the case. Also on the panel are Staci Kaliner of Redgrave LLP and Hans Foster from ProFile Discovery. The three will share war stories and advice for weathering the turbulence of largescale data collection.
